The Salvation Army Kids Club really went bananas this year, visiting 11 nursing homes and reaching out to more than 800 residents. The kids performed songs, played games, gave away bananas and other fresh fruit, and visited with many elderly or disabled residents, some of whom rarely get visitors. Their project leader, Captain Miranda Duskin, said, “The Salvation Army Kids Club will continue to visit and perform at nursing homes and give gifts to the elderly and lonely in our community. The biggest change however is that there is a greater amount of pride from the kids because their project was a winner and they feel like they make a difference in their community. It is great to see the kids taking ownership of service to others!”
