Testimonials

“I have witnessed first-hand the importance of philanthropy. Whether it be through gifts of time, talent, or treasure, it all makes the work of the Big Brothers Big Sisters agency impact more children and their families. I am grateful to the individuals that give of themselves to improve the lives of others.”   ~Linnea Gettman, Executive Director Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Norfolk Area, Inc.

“CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) of Northeast Nebraska would not exist if it wasn’t for our dedicated volunteers, advocating for our kids in the court system because of abuse and or neglect. They go above and beyond the traditional role of a CASA volunteer. We also very much appreciate the donations to our program no matter the amount or value.”  ~Ruth, CASA of Northeast Nebraska

“Philanthropy has helped Behavioral Health Specialists, Inc. fund our 24/7 emergency CARE Line program. Because of the generosity of those in the community the CARE Line has assisted individuals/families during their behavioral health crisis, reduced unnecessary hospitalizations and diverted over 100 suicide and self-harm situations in the last two years. Local philanthropy is what makes this life saving service available to the community.”  ~Kristi Carmichael, Director of Finance, Behavioral Health Specialists

“At Northeast, we strive to build a better tomorrow, by providing a top-notch education to northeast Nebraska’s future leaders. Without generous support from donors, many of our students would find college to be just beyond their grasp. Donations to Northeast’s endowment and building projects not only help us to keep tuition affordable, but also allow us to expand our offerings and provide an exceptional learning experience Through their gifts, residents of northeast Nebraska are building the future of our region.”  ~Courtney Klein-Faust, Executive Director of Development,  Northeast Community College

The Zone after-school program and Leadership group would not exist without the kindness of individuals donating their time, talent and financial gifts to support the development of adolescent youth in the community.  The simple act of providing a snack, taking time to share a hobby, and giving opportunities for kids to help volunteer, all contribute to The Zone reach their mission to be proactive in promoting the well-being of youth.  One youth shares,” It was an environment where I could connect with mentors and reinforce the value of respect for myself and others.”   ~Julee Pfeil,   The Zone Program Director

Bright Horizons is so blessed to work in a community that supports us with donated items as well as monetary donations and volunteer time. We could not offer our services without this support.  A thank you we recently received stated, “I just wanted to write a quick thank you for all the help & especially all the beautiful baby clothes you gave me for my son!!  You not only gave me clothes, you gave me hope for a brighter future for my children.  I cannot adequately tell you how much all the help has meant to us.  You are all truly angels sent straight from heaven to help and guide those of us who’ve gotten left behind due to our problems.  Thank you.”  I wish every donor and volunteer had the opportunity to realize the impact they are making in people’s lives.  ~ Linda Olson, Executive Director, Bright Horizons

Without our volunteers, we could not be there down the street, around the world and across the country.  Our donors go hand in hand with the spirit of volunteerism.  It is the financial suppport, or philanthropy, of the donors that allows our volunteers to respond when disaster strikes and allows the Red Cross to be prepared to support our communities and our country.  ~ Shalle Wolf, Northeast Nebraska Chapter of the American Red Cross

Through the gift of Philanthropy the Norfolk Senior Center will be updated with a new look and the latest technology. This gift was given to make sure the center would be around for future generations and make it a viable part of the community. Our volunteers also provide time and talent, they are the gifts beyond measure. Investing in the center helps not only Norfolk but all of Northeast Nebraska as it is a focal point of senior services.  ~ Vicki Goeken, Executive Director Norfolk Senior Center
