The Children’s Health Education Carnival will educate children and parents on important issues related to the child’s health, safety and overall wellbeing. The event will also impact the Norfolk Rescue Mission by having children and families donate toys, clothing or financial gifts. Mentor Organization: Northeast Community College Foundation
April 2013 Update: The Children’s Health Education Carnival was held on Saturday, April 6th, 2013 from 9:00AM-12:00PM at the Life-Long Learning Center. Matthew Schneider, President of the Student Nurses Association and one of the organizers of the event, said, “Our primary mission is to help children of the Norfolk community discover how easy and fun it can be to lead healthy lives, and learn ways to be safe at home, school, and on the playground. Our secondary mission is to stimulate the spirit of giving in the youth in attendance by encouraging free-will donations (clothing, shoes, money, toys, and food) to be donated to the Norfolk Rescue Mission.” In all, over 300 people attended the event, receiving some great education while having lots of fun. Four large totes of clothes, toys, and food were collected and donated to the Norfolk Rescue Mission.
