Mission:  The Norfolk Priory of the Missionary Benedictine Sisters is part of an international community of monastic women who participate in the missionary service of the Church by seeking God through community, prayer and ministry.

What We Do:  Historically our community worked in healthcare and taught in schools.  In recent years we have moved into spirituality…spiritual direction done by our Sisters to people who come to us.  We renovated our monastery and established a spirituality center where we can offer retreats, day long, or week long or even longer.  We also have worked at the Native American mission in Winnebago, NE for more than 50 years.  Our hope is to branch out into parishes in rural areas and do seminars, workships etc.

Area Served:  Northeast NE in the U.S., but we are an international Congregation and serve in 18 countries world wide.  Many Sisters from other countries live and work with us in Norfolk and many American Sisters serve overseas, 6 currently in India, Tanzania, Kenya, Argentina, Italy, Namibia.

Our Wish List:  Right now we are trying to build up our spirituality center and trying to get more people to take advantage of our great facility!

Number of Staff: 14 Lay Staff, 25 Sisters

Number of Regular Volunteers: 2

How We Are Governed: Our Prioress is elected as are her 7 Council Members.  They serve 2 year terms.
